How Compost Your Bag

Our bags are made from 100% corn starch, a plant-based biopolymer designed to
naturally decompose in home-composting conditions, without generating
microplastics or contaminating soil or water.
How to Compost It at Home:

  1. Cut the bag into small pieces
Smaller pieces accelerate microbial degradation. Remove any stickers or
    adhesives before composting.
  2. Add it to your organic waste
Mix bag pieces with fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, and leaves.
Balance your compost with both “green” (moist) and “brown” (dry) materials to
    maintain proper pH and aeration.
  3. Layer your compost
Alternate layers of soil and organic waste to support microbial activity.
  4. Aerate regularly
Turn or stir your compost every 1–2 weeks to provide oxygen and improve the
    decomposition rate.
  5. Keep contaminants out
Avoid plastics, oils, meat, dairy, or any non-compostable residues.

Decomposition Time
Depending on climate and composting method, Uman bags typically compost
within 3 to 6 months, producing a nutrient-rich humus suitable for plants, gardens,
and home crops.
Because Every Bag Matters
By composting your Uman bag, you help reduce landfill waste and return valuable
nutrients to the earth. It’s not waste—it’s life returning to the soil.
